1. WHEN IS THE NEXT COURSE IN ANIMAL ACUPUNCTURE?
• The NAAA is scheduling a full course in Equine & Canine Acupuncture that will begin in September of 2026.
2. DOES THE NAAA PROVIDE CONTINUING EDUCATION ON ANIMAL ACUPUNCTURE?
• Yes. The NAAA has continuing education in animal acupuncture for ABAA certified acupuncturists. Those education segments will be announced on this website.
3. CAN ACUPUNCTURISTS OPENLY TREAT ANIMALS?
• Each state has different laws and regulations regarding the treatment of animals. As of January 2025, only two states
(Maryland & Arizona) give certifications for acupuncturists treating animals. These states only accept ABAA certification.
However, several states, including Oregon, Utah, Illinois, Georgia and South Carolina allow acupuncturists to treat animals with
a referral from a veterinarian. Most other states also allow veterinarians to contract with or hire acupuncturists to treat animals under the vet’s license.
4. HOW MANY STUDENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED IN THE COURSE?
• We will be accepting a maximum of 12 students for the upcoming course.
5. IF I AM NOT SELECTED FOR THE UPCOMING COURSE YEAR, CAN I REAPPLY FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR?
•Yes, since we limit the number of applicants accepted in the course to ensure safety and one-on-one training, we encourage you to reapply for the following year.
6. IF I PASS THIS COURSE, WILL I QUALIFY TO BE CERTIFIED BY THE AMERICAN BOARD OF ANIMAL ACUPUNCTURE?
• Successfully passing the course allows the acupuncturist to take the ABAA certification exams. If both the ABAA written and clinical exams are passed, they will be certified by the American Board of Animal Acupuncture.
7. WHEN ARE THE ABAA EXAMS?
• The ABAA Clinical & Written exams are during the final module of the course.
8. IS THERE AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR THE EXAMS?
• NO. The fee for the ABAA exams is included in the course.
• All the requirements for acceptance into the course are detailed in the Syllabus that can be downloaded from the website.
• NO. Everything students need to begin a career treating horses or dogs is covered in the course.
